BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: It is a plant of perennial origin, cespitose.
The leaves are linear 20-40 cm long. The flowers are white to pale lilac, produced in a short raceme on a 5-10 cm stem. The fruit is in the form of blue berries 5 mm in diameter.
The roots are large stolons with tuberous roots.
Excellent for replacing grass where it would not grow.
FLOWERING TIME: Flowers from May to October, seeds ripen in November, tolerates lack of light, a great advantage in winter conditions, when many plants suffer without additional lighting.
USES AND APPLICATIONS: It is grown as an ornamental plant, providing an excellent plant cover.
It is sold as a decorative plant for freshwater aquariums, although it is not a true aquatic plant.
