About our plants
Does liriope grow in sun or shade?
Both. Liriope grows in full sun, partial shade and shade. In full sun it flowers more; in shade it keeps a deeper green foliage.

Depending on the variety, between 20 and 45 cm tall. Liriope Ever Green can reach 60 cm in ideal conditions.
Can Mondo Grass replace a lawn?
Yes, in shady or partly shaded areas where grass struggles. It is not mowed and does not tolerate heavy foot traffic, so it pairs well with stepping stones.

They are relatives in the same family. Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon) is finer, lower and denser; liriope has wider leaves and showier flower spikes.

Yes. It grows well in full sun and partial shade, in tropical and warm climates, with well-drained soil.

Super Blue is an improved selection of Big Blue: it grows slightly taller, tolerates more direct sun and keeps the characteristic lavender blooms.
How long does Liriope Super Blue take to produce?
On our farm, its ideal propagation cycle takes approximately 12 months.
Does Liriope Ever Green grow in full shade?
Yes. It is one of the most versatile varieties: it grows in full sun, partial shade and full shade.
How long does it take to produce?
Its ideal propagation time is 12 to 18 months.
Is Aztec Grass a liriope?
It is sold as a liriope, but botanically it is Ophiopogon intermedius "Argenteomarginatus", a close relative of Mondo Grass.
Does Mondo Grass flower?
Yes, small white to pale lilac flowers in short racemes, followed by blue berries about 5 mm across.
What is dwarf Mondo Grass used for?
To fill between stepping stones and pavers, for fine edges, Japanese gardens and small areas that need a low carpet with no mowing.
